Product Description

Curazole 5% w/w premix for medicated feed is a broad spectrum anthelmintic containing 50mg per gram of Fenbendazole as the active ingredient.
It is used for control of benzimidazole susceptible mature and developing immature roundworms, stomach worms and lung worms of the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts of pigs.

Species

Pigs

Dose & Administration

  • 5mg fenbendazole per kg bodyweight
  • This is equivalent to 100mg or 0.1g of Curazole 5% per kg bodyweight

Formula for inclusion rate

Use the following formula to calculate how much Curazole 5% to add per tonne of feed if animals are to be treated collectively and dosed accordingly.

Number of mg of Curazole per Kg of feed     =   [(100 mg of Curazole 5% / Number of treatment days)     x   Average Bodyweight (kg) of treated animals]
Average daily feed intake (kg)

Growing and finishing pigs

  • Curazole 5% w/w powder should be mixed at the rate of 2kg per tonne of feed;
  • It is recommended to mix 2kg of Curazole 5% into 20kg of dry feed first and then mix into the bulk feed;

Mixing 2kg per tonne of feed, based on the formula above, will:

  • This will treat on a single occasion: 800 pigs of 25 kg bodyweight each consuming 1.25 kg medicated feed;
  • or 400 pigs of 50 kg bodyweight each consuming 2.5 kg medicated feed;

For the treatment of sows of 200kg bodyweight

  • Mix 8kg of Curazole 5% into 1 tonne of feed if each sow consumes 2.5kg medicated feed per day;
  • This will treat 400 sows on a single occasion;

For the treatment of sows of 150kg bodyweight

  • Mix 7.5kg Curazole 5% into 1 tonne of feed if each sow consumes 2kg medicated feed per day;
  • This will treat 500 sows on a single occasion;

For the treatment of Mass/whole herd medication

  • Give 1.7mg per kg bodyweight per day for three days OR
  • Give 0.7mg per kg bodyweight per day for seven days
  • This administration in equal parts over 3/7 days is as effective as a singe dose on one day;
